Brown is good
December 27, 2011 - Karin Elton
I take umbrage on behalf of this year’s winter weather. Notice I didn’t put sarcastic quotes around the word winter. (See this week’s online poll.)
Even though 86 percent of the online voters are a fan of this year’s winter weather, it appears the Independent editor is not.
The calendar says winter started Dec. 22 so that makes it winter in my book. Sometimes “winter” starts in October in Minnesota. I’m not a fan of winter starting in October, horning in on Autumn’s time to shine.
In a Dec. 27 story about the lovely weather we’ve been having, editor Per Peterson headlined it “Wimpy weather will linger into 2012.”
Save your editorializing for the Opinion Page, Peterson.
Apparently you enjoy driving into Marshall from rural Murray County on icy, snow-filled roads.
I know weather nuts like the words and phrases associated with typical Minnesota winters such as sleet, wintry mix, wind chill and blizzard, but the overwhelming majority of Minnesotans are not as appreciative. We need a break after the past couple of harsh, neverending winters that we have had. I’ve even heard people bitterly say, “Where is this global warming that we’ve been promised?”
We have had a couple of windy days lately. You’ll have to be satisfied with that, "Peterson."
