Basilica Babylon

July 13, 2011 - Karin Elton
Went to the cities to visit my sisters last weekend. Two of my sisters and I went to the Basilica Block Party. It had three stages set up where bands such as The Pines, Gomez and The Jayhawks played.

I liked David Gray best and the Pines. David Gray’s most well known song is “Babylon.” The Pines lead singer sounded like early Bob Dylan and the second lead sounded like him as well! The first Bob Dylan commented that it was the first time in a couple of years that they have played an outdoor concert where it hadn’t rained.

The audience chatted throughout Gray’s heartfelt and beautiful performance, but that’s what you get at an outdoor concert where there is beer and spiked lemonade.

Ray LaMontagne was the headliner for Saturday night. I was looking forward to hearing him, but it was so hot and the crowd was so thick that I couldn’t really get into it.

The first night we parked where we had to go on the walking bridge over the highway to get to the concert near Loring Park. The steps were steep and then looking down at all those cars whizzing by I knew I wasn’t in Lynd anymore.
