| | A jazzy photoFebruary 1, 2011 - Karin EltonIt was fun taking photos of the 10 Marshall High School Snow Week candidates last Friday. I told them we were going to frolic in the snow and they should get their coats on. After posing behind a dirty snowbank near the school, we walked to the tunnel by Highway 23. A co-worker had suggested it and I thought that would be an interesting place to take a photo. They asked if they could go inside and I said yes, that could work. I didn’t want them just standing, so I said run as if a train is coming! So they did, or some of them. From the looks of the photo, the girls look more at ease being silly than the boys. I guess the boys have to be macho at all times — or else, what? They might end up having fun, heaven forbid? I knew that wouldn’t work as a photo for the paper because I couldn’t get all their faces in. I asked the kids for suggestions, and someone came up with posing on top of the tunnel. I wanted them to be doing something and asked them to do the cheesy “jazz hands” pose. Most of them did it, along with an “a-cha-cha-cha” face, and that turned out to be the winning photo that the editor selected. It turned out really lively and cute.
