| | Better than the moviesDecember 13, 2010 - Deb GauI was stuck inside without a lot to do over the weekend, as no doubt a lot of people were around Marshall. But that was all okay, as I had plenty of reading material, a good pair of slippers and the Internet at my disposal. That was where I caught video clips of the spectacular collapse of the Metrodome, er, dome, on Sunday. If you haven't seen that footage yet, you should. It's incredible stuff - the dome material sagging down and rippling as if it were alive, and the tons of snow on the outside of the roof finally ripping through and pouring onto the field like hourglass sand or the biggest grain chute imaginable. I know later it will all just make me grumpy - how much it's gonna cost to fix, how we'll all probably end up paying for it somehow - but right now all I can think is, why aren't disaster-movie special effects anywhere near this cool?
