Xmas at TOPS
December 5, 2010 - Per Peterson
The city of Garvin isn’t exactly the North Pole, but for one day this past weekend, it looked the part. This Ol’ Place, a popular bar and restaurant with a relatively new banquet hall on U.S. Highway 59, was home to a very cool Christmas event Saturday in what has become a holiday tradition where kids can sit on Santa’s lap, and receive a goodie bag and stuffed animal and take part in a bunch of different craft activities. The day comes complete with snacks, cider and coffee and Christmas karaoke for the kids. Dozens upon dozens of area children attended the free event with the parents and all left with smiles on their faces. Nice job, This Ol’ Place. It’s nice to see small towns around Marshall get into the Christmas spirit as much as they do — from Garvin’s event, to Russell’s live nativity that took place Saturday and Sunday.
