Get your remote ready, sports fans
October 15, 2010 - Per Peterson
If you’re a sports fan it doesn’t get much better than this weekend. Well, it does, but thanks to another choke job by the Twins, the perfect sports weekend remains out of reach. Still, you can’t argue that weekends in October are made for sports fans — especially lazy ones. The Gophers football team kicks things off Saturday morning against Purdue, followed by a whole day of college football, including Iowa at Michigan, Arkansas at Auburn, and Ohio State at Wisconsin. Saturday night, the Sprint Cup resumes with the Bank of America 500. Then, of course, there’s Sunday, when the Vikings and Cowboys face off in the Desperation Bowl at 3 p.m. You can prime yourself for that game by catching either the Bears or Packers lose. Indianapolis and Washington play NBC’s Sunday night game. The Gophers men’s hockey team and volleyball team also play this weekend, as do the Wild, who are at home Saturday night against Columbus. Make sure the batteries in your remote are new.
