Tag I'm it

This morning I had an 11 o’clock “gig,” as I call interviews (I must secretly think I’m a rockin’ reporter), but first the editor asked me to whiz by West Side to take a photo of a presentation at 10:30 a.m.

The event was outside so I threw on a pullover sweater and walked to the little red schoolhouse where Lon Moon was telling first graders about one-room country schools. I took photos and hoped I wouldn’t be late for my 11 a.m. interview at the YMCA. I wasn’t wearing a watch, didn’t have my cellphone to see what time it was, so I just guessed when was a good time to leave.

Not knowing whatsoever what time it was, I walked into the YMCA at 10:57 a.m. Damn I’m good and that’s what I told the editor when I arrived back to the newsroom at 11:30 a.m.

I told him I took the photos at West Side and made it in time for my 11 o’clock interview at the Y with three minutes to spare. He said, “Too bad your sweater’s on backward and your tag is showing.”

I looked down and noticed that yes my pullover was on backward and the tag was prominently sticking out. This rockin’ reporter had done two gigs with her sweater on backward and “Kirk and Hill Clothing Company” on display.

“Well,” I told Per, “at least I’ll get a blog out of it.”
“There’s always a silver lining,” he said.
“With a tag sticking out,” I replied.
