| | Summer splashJuly 19, 2010 - Cindy VotrubaYesterday was the first time I went swimming this summer. Yeah, summer is slipping by fast being it’s already past mid-July. So I took advantage of my last “official” day of vacation and headed to the Marshall Aquatic Center. It didn’t matter where I went, I just wanted to get in the water. Granted I was probably the only adult there who didn’t have any children along, but it was still fun and soothing to be in the pool. I even traipsed up to the waterslide a few times. I’ll admit I didn’t realize how high up it was. My near-sighted self was a little dizzy from the height. The first time I ever went on a waterslide at the Superchute in Somerset, I was 11 years old. I didn’t have any swimming skills (still really don’t) and of course, the first time on a waterslide, I get turned around in the middle. So I’m sliding backward down the slide, screaming. But it wasn’t so bad splashing into the pool at the end. Now the area where the Superchute once stood is occupied by townhomes. Anyways, back to the slide. Yes, I’ll admit that at 38 years old, I still like hitting the waterslides. I’ll probably go on them until I’m 80 years old. Or before my knees give out.
