7 deadly sins

On the front page of a recent Variety section in the Strib is a story about a website, www.countysinrankings.org

The website posts a county’s score as far as how its citizens rate on the seven deadly sins — gluttony, sloth, pride, greed, envy, wrath and lust.

I plugged in 56258 and got the following statistics: envy (unemployment rate), 4 percent; lust (chlamydia rate), 175; and gluttony (adult obesity), 29 percent.

Only 175 people in Lyon County have chlamydia? Pretty good.

Twenty-nine percent of us are obese. How do they know?

Wait, I do remember a stranger reaching over to me while I was walking on Main Street last month, grabbing my midsection and muttering, “hmmmm. well over an inch.”
