| | I'm walkingJune 17, 2010 - Deb GauI'll be the first person to admit that I'm really out of shape. It's not that I don't like physical activity — it's more a challenge of setting a priority to exercise and sticking with the routine. I spend quite a bit of my time at work in front of a computer, and at home I'm surrounded by all manner of distracting electronic gizmos that seem like more fun and less work than going outside. Enter my new pedometer. I figure if I'm going to be hooked on computer games, I could at least incorporate the addiction into something healthy and useful. I'm going to wear it and make it a little challenge for myself to try and work up the 10,000 steps a day recommended for better health. With my stride length, that works out to walking about four miles a day. I used to be able to make that quota by going through college without a car or a "real job," and walking to and from campus from across town. Right now, I'm thinking about my lifestyle and saying, "Good luck with that." Then again, that's why it's a challenge. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
