Crossing against the lightYesterday during the noon hour, driving on Main Street and stopping for a red light on 5th, I noted Lloyd White, a retired German professor at SMSU who is blind, at the corner with his guide dog. I idly wondered how the dog, a German shepherd, knows when it is safe to cross the road.In this case the dog didn’t know. The light turned green for the Main Street traffic and red for White and his dog. They stepped out into traffic. Thank God everyone stopped and allowed them to cross the road. Scary.
