A nice moment

April 7, 2010 - Cindy Votruba
Well although my editor is more or less displeased with Duke, I’ll have to sing the team’s praises because some quirk of fate, I managed to snag second place in the office pool. I had picked Duke to win in one of my brackets, but I lost the tiebreaker. No biggie, got some cash.

Although I admit to not watching college basketball, I saw a clip from the Duke-West Virginia game that made its way around the Internet. It showed West Virginia’s star player Da’Sean Butler driving to the basket and injured his left knee. He tore his ACL, sprained his MCL and received two bone bruises. Ouch. But his coach just cradled him in his arms and comforted him. I thought that was just the coolest thing ever. Mostly you see coaches yelling at refs, their players, etc. Granted Coach Huggins did think Butler was fouled, but it was a touching moment.
