A homecoming memory

I took vacation days Thursday through Monday, hence the dearth of blogs from this quarter.

Friday afternoon, I was shopping at a big box store in Marshall and the cashier, a young man, was enjoying watching a returning National Guard soldier who had two young boys close at his side.

He remembered when he was 15 and his father came home after being deployed. “I never left his side,” he said.

The dad went back to work soon after coming home and the clerk said he didn’t go to school that first day, but went with the dad to his work.
