March 31, 2010 - Per Peterson
Time flies when you’re having fun. It also flies when everytime you turn around your phone is ringing or someone comes in for an interview, or thousands of fish croak. Tuesday was one of those days — probably the busiest I’ve had since taking over as editor. I thought I’d have a quiet start with a 10 a.m. interview with former Sen. Mark Dayton kicking things off. But upon checking my voicemail, I learned that long-time Sen. Dennis Frederickson was retiring. That’s when the ball started rolling, and it didn’t stop until 7 p.m. I got the Frederickson news on the Web site right away and just as I was finishing that up, Dayton walks in. So I interview Dayton, write the story and as soon as I finish that up in walks Sen. Frederickson. After interviewing the senator and writing a story about his announcement I dive in on the dead carp situation on Lake Shetek. Hmmm. From politicians to dead fish. Some would say that’s not a big leap. Before I know it, it’s 5 p.m. I didn’t even look at the clock all day. It’s days like Tuesday that make me appreciate the job I have — staying busy, working with interesting and i influential people and getting the news out. Time does fly when you’re having fun.
