| | Movie sequels and remakesMarch 16, 2010 - Cindy VotrubaCan you name a few movie sequels that just probably shouldn’t have been made? A few of us in the newsroom were discussing that topic late in the afternoon Tuesday. Some titles that arose included “Slapshot 2” (the original starred Paul Newman, the sequel, Stephen Baldwin), “Rocky V” and “The Blues Brothers 2000” (my contribution). Now I love an occasional movie every now and then in my copious free time. I got around to seeing “The Hurt Locker” this weekend, along with “She’s Out of My League” at the theater. One serious, one just plain goofily funny. Hollywood’s been accused of running out of original ideas, so it’s sometimes resorted to the dreaded “remake” of some movies, such as “Fame,” “The Bad News Bears,” or “Hairspray.” Some work, some not so much. One thing’s for certain, we just like to escape reality once in a while. As long as there’s a good movie to see. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
