Kind is cool…
Doughnuts for the teachers at school. Helping a colleague prepare for an important meeting. Paying for coffee for customers behind you in line. Dedicating a good karma yoga session to an organization. Writing a kind note to a friend. Smiling at a stranger. Carrying groceries for your neighbor. Baking cookies for a college student. Leaving M & Ms for your postal carrier. Delivering personal hygiene items to area food shelves.
Kind is cool.
United Ways across the state of Minnesota, celebrated United Acts of Kindness Week, Nov. 6-10. This special week was designated to promote volunteer engagement and to encourage kindness to others statewide. People were encouraged to do at least one United Act of Kindness for another individual. One week, everyone UNITED in spreading kindness.
Together reports of kind acts spread across southwest Minnesota and across the state. More than 40 local United Ways along with area businesses, families, schools, churches, and organizations worked together. One mission. One goal. Just pure kindness.
Using a special statewide hashtag #LiveUnitedMN, it was cool to see kindness in every corner of our state. From Rochester to Canby. From Slayton to Fergus Falls. From Duluth to Lynd. From Dawson to St. Cloud. In every nook and cranny of our great state; in small towns and large towns; young people and older people; businesses and organizations; school and service clubs all united in…kindness.
May United Acts of Kindness Week inspire you in the weeks and months ahead. Continue intentional acts of kindness. Help a stranger. Lend a hand. Live United. And remember, kind is cool.
