Focus on the positive in community

To the editor:

I often feel like each time I turn on the news or open a newspaper I am bombarded with bad news about problems in our world. While these problems may seem insurmountable, instead of feeling powerless, I choose to focus on the positive things occurring in our own community which is why I support the United Way of Southwest Minnesota.

The United Way of Southwest Minnesota has been an unwavering presence in our community uniting people and resources to improve lives and strengthen communities in Southwest Minnesota. This year alone more than 50,000 of our friends and neighbors will be benefit from United Way’s local initiatives, community partner programs and partnerships that address community needs in the areas of education, financial stability, health, hunger, safety, & well-being. However, the UWSWMN’s work is not possible without the generous support of the members of our community.

In less than two weeks, the UWSWM’s annual campaign comes to a close and we find ourselves more than $32,692.62 short of our campaign goal of $600,000 needed to support local programing and people in 2018-2019. This funding is vital to ensure that the good the United Way brings to our community can continue.

Please invest in the good in our community and contribute so we can continue to improve lives in Southwest Minnesota. To make a contribution great or small, please visit www.UnitedWaySWMN.org . Donations can also be mailed to UWSWMN, PO Box 41, Marshall, MN, 56258.
