Racist has nothing to do with religion

To the editor:

1. The article states: “… about 275 people hardly “fill” that theater.

2. The article states: “…and you go and say hi to your racist Uncle Joe, I encourage you to say, ‘Hi racist Uncle Joe. I don’t agree with what you’re saying’… Well, according to the dictionary, the word “racist” means: the doctrine that one’s own racial group is superior or that a particular racial group is inferior to the others. “Racist“” has nothing to do with religion, sorry Dr. Virji.

3. The book, “The Muqaddimah” by Ibn Khaldun, The Classic Islamic History of the World printed by Princeton University Press and used by SMSU as a textbook a few years ago, states on page 188: …At different times there appeared different sects. Finally, these sects crystallized into three groups, which constitute the Christian sects. Others have no significance. These are the Melchites, the Jacobites, and the Nestorians. We do not think that we should blacken the pages of this book with discussion of their dogmas of unbelief. In general, they are well known. All of them are unbelief. This is clearly stated in the noble Qur’an. To discuss or argue those things with them is not for us. It is (for them to choose between) conversion to Islam, payment of the poll tax, or death.”

4. I would highly recommend that everyone read the book, “Princess” by Jean P. Sasson. It’s an insider’s view of being a woman in Islam. Actually, I think Dr. Virji should read it.
