Another year of Bible classes
To the editor:
On Thursday at 6:30-7:30 p.m. the Jesus Cares Ministry of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church at 208 W. Marshall has been blessed to be starting off another year of Bible classes that runs September through May.
All individuals in the community with intellectual and developmental disabilities of any age are welcome to come and participate in the class. It consists of a short portion of the Bible with a lesson folder that includes full color pictures and words with rebus pictures. Then based on that are songs, a craft, activities, and prayers.
The participants not only hear God’s Word, learning what he has done for them in sending his Son, Jesus, as their Savior, but they also learn about how they themselves can share his love with others.
I want to give a huge “Thank you!” to the staff of the Independent for all the announcements and coverage of past events these last 10 years. Some of the things you have shared with your readers are the Summer/Day Camps, Christmas Programs, Game Nights, and the beginning of the year announcements.
Just getting this information out there has played a vital part in letting the community know that this ministry is available to individuals who are often forgotten by society and that they are welcome with open arms as friends at Christ Lutheran.
I would like to encourage those reading this to share this with someone they might know who would enjoy coming to Jesus Cares Ministry, even just to come see what it is all about.

Again, many thanks to the staff of the Independent!
Melanie Werner (Jesus Cares Ministry Coordinator
