Solution 20 miles away
To the editor:
After reading Saturday’s (Feb. 25) Marshall Independent about the proposed debt load for the school addition, I feel I should inform people that the solution is just 20 miles west of Marshall.
Ivanhoe has an agreement to send their students to Minneota, so their high school facility is available. Ivanhoe just spent $15 million on that building, so it is a very nice setup. Marshall could rent the school and treat it like a satellite school. Marshall should get the state aid as they would be our students. Ivanhoe would be responsible for the maintenance.
Details could be worked out by fall. Also I expect Marshall will have more students in 10 years, and we could be in this same predicament again. We certainly do not want to go into debt like our federal government.
