Broadband service gets a boost

THUMBS UP:

Lincoln County took another major step in establishing broadband service in areas not yet covered. The board of commissioners on Tuesday approved the next step that includes talking to current service providers in partnering for the upgrade. A feasibility study presentation offered several options. The board was also urged to start talking to the public and assist the various partners with grant writing.

Friends of wildlife resources

THUMBS UP:

Good luck to Scott Roemhildt, the new Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Southern Region Director. He replaces Dennis Frederickson, a former state senator who represented Lyon County. Frederickson retired on Feb. 6. Frederickson promoted wildlife resources in southern Minnesota by helping with the addition of 20,000 acres of habitat land.

Congratulations to Marshall girls

THUMBS UP:

The Marshall High School girls’ hockey team deserves congratulations on a very successful season. Marshall did lose to Breck 9-2 in the state opener inside the Xcel Energy Center. While the loss eliminated Marshall from state championship contention, the girls program has something to build on for next season. Marshall ended the season with a 17-12-0 record. That’s a pretty good record.
