No stopping the sounds of music

THUMBS UP:

Mother Nature was unsuccessful in stopping the sounds of music at Mattke Field at the Schwan Regional Event Center at Southwest Minnesota State University Saturday. High school bands throughout the region marched on despite rain and the threat of lightning. The performance were amazing and the competition was fierce. Congratulations to all the schools participating in the 22nd annual Pursuit of Excellence.

Bring stability back to Tracy City Hall

THUMBS DOWN:

The recent developments at Tracy City Hall are unfortunate. A dedicated employee has resigned, recall petitions being circulated and a Councilman is being called a “bully.” Let’s hope Tracy officials can work through these events in a timely manner and bring stability back to City Hall.

Marshall Council waits on decision

THUMBS DOWN:

We applaud the Marshall City Council for asking the public to express their view on the parking issue on Hamden Street. Apparently, parked cars have become an issue on the narrow street when it comes to snow plowing and cleanup efforts. Marshall Public Works Director Glenn Olson said the narrowness of the street, combined with parking allowed on both sides of the street is creating a dilemma. City staff is proposing alternate side parking, which might be the best solution.
