BECKER — Marcella “Marty” Camell, 86, went to be with our Lord Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018. She was born to Magnus and Mary (Mitzel) Wagner, and she grew up on a farm near Strasburg, N.D. For high school, Marty ventured to Duluth where she attended boarding school at Saint Scholastica. While in Duluth, Marty met Jacob “Jake” Camell.
A few years later, while Jake was home on leave from the Marine Corps, he and Marty were married on July 8, 1952. Marty joined Jake in California where he was stationed at the time. It was there that they were blessed and welcomed their two children, Deborah Marie and Brian Paul, into their family. In 1965, Marty and family moved back to Minnesota. There Marty worked for 27 years at Schwan’s as manager of accounts payable. Though Marty was a dedicated employee she still always found time to be a loving mother and supportive wife.
Marty and Jake retired to a lake home in Bovey, MN. She enjoyed spending time reading on the pontoon while Jake fished, but her highlight was when her grandchildren came to visit. After spending many years on the lake, Marty and Jake moved to Becker, MN to be closer to family.
Throughout all these moves Marty remained very dedicated to her faith and was devotedly involved in her church communities.
Marty is survived by her husband, Jake, her children, Deborah (Bradley) Schwartz and Brian Camell; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Mitchell) LaBorde, Daniel (Amber) Schwartz, Mikayle (Stephanie) Camell, Alexandra (Dary Berke) Camell and Benett Camell; three great-grandchildren, Spencer Schwartz, Nolan Schwartz and Avery Camell. Marty is also survived by sisters, Valeria Sehn, Rosabella Volk, Arlene Kramer, and brother, Magnus Wagner Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Magnus Sr. and Mary Wagner, and sisters Viola Kramer and Rita Feist.
A prayer service took place Wednesday in Becker at Grace Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
