Stacy Jo Brewers was born Aug. 26, 1970, in Marshall, to Don and Darlys (Haney) Brewers. She grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School in 1988. Stacy attended Mankato State University and Southwest State and graduated with a social work degree in 1992. She then obtained her RN degree from Metropolitan State University in 1998. On Dec. 10, 1993, she was married to Tom Draper. The couple divorced in 1999.

Stacy started her emergency medical service career in Marshall in 1992 by working for the Marshall Ambulance Service. After moving to Golden Valley, she worked at Abbott Northwestern Hospital starting in the emergency department and she eventually became a nurse manager in the med/surg/neuro Intensive Care Unit. During this time, she was also an EMS educator for North Memorial Health Care in Robbinsdale and instructed Comprehensive Advanced Life Support for many years.

In 2000, Stacy moved to Willmar. She was an assistant nurse manager for emergency services at Rice Memorial Hospital. She also worked with the Willmar Ambulance service. In 2001, she moved to Andover and began working for Life Link III out of Minneapolis as a Critical Care Transport nurse. She worked out of St. Cloud and Anoka bases. Stacy also served as director of flight services for two years overseeing operations for five helicopter bases in MN and WI. Stacy was especially proud of her time with LL III. It was her dream job. In 2005, she worked for Children’s Hospital of Minneapolis as patient care manager in Pediatric ICU. In 2007, she started at Mercy Hospital in the emergency department and worked there until the time of her death. Her co-workers were a great comfort to the family during her last hospitalization.

Stacy was a dog lover, very passionate about her four legged “children.” She enjoyed spending time at the lake with her family. She also enjoyed cross stitching, movies and trying new restaurants with friends. She loved to watch her nephews play baseball, football and wrestle. Stacy participated in two mission trips to Mexico. She enjoyed wine with her friends and will be remembered as a good friend and co-worker who was a good listener and helped many through difficult times.

Survivors include her parents, Don and Darlys Brewers of Marshall; sister Angie (and Courtney) Hughes; nephews Jackson and Jacob of Marshall; grandparents Robert and Barbara Brewers of Marshall; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends. She was also survived by her dogs, Stella, Lilly and Olten.
