Charles Alan Buysse passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at his family farm, surrounded by his loving and supportive family, after displaying amazing strength. He endured the strongest chemotherapy treatments offered for pancreatic and liver cancer for two-and-a-half years, and made great strides way past his initial six months prognosis. He was an inspiration to all. He was 57 years old.

Charles was born July 21, 1960, the eighth child, to Gustaff and Florence (DeBaere) Buysse. He was baptized and confirmed at Holy Redeemer and married at St. Mary’s Chapel in Marshall. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1978 and worked at various agricultural jobs, Cargill Elevator and as a branch manager at the Walnut Grove Elevator. He was on the Lake Marshall Township Board, a member of the Corn and Soybeans Association and was a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus for Holy Redeemer Church.

In 1982, he took over the family farm and continued being a great steward to the land and the farm site as his parents and grandparents had been before him. His love, appreciation, and caring for the family farm was always apparent with his meticulous up-keep of the land and the farm site.

Charles (Chuck) was well known as being a generous, honest, kind-hearted, gentle, humorous, and faith-filled servant of his faith, family, farming and friends. He always tried to do things the right way from start to finish.

On June 18, 1983 he married the love of his life, Cheri Kirk. They cared, loved, and respected each other profoundly. Working side by side, helping and caring for each other, and always giving it their very best together to try to overcome any obstacle that they had to endure. Chuck and Cheri have two children, Amber and Jared.

His interests and hobbies included family vacations and grilling, sitting on his deck and porch, golf outings, fishing trips up north, working, fixing, putting anything back together of his John Deere equipment, endlessly working and nurturing his farm site, spending time with his family and especially his new granddaughter, Avery, which all of them brought to him the most joy, smiles, laughter, and happiness.

Chuck is survived by his wife Cheri of 34 years of marriage; his daughter Amber (and Trent) Altheide of Marshall; his son Jared (and Kasi) of Waconia; and granddaughter, Avery Altheide; siblings, Elaine (and Bob) Olin of Lynd, Larry (and Bonnie) Buysse of Tracy, JoAnn (and Tom) Meier of LaVista, Neb., Steve Buysse of Marshall, Diane Seidl of Sedalia, Mo., and Doug Buysse of Cottonwood; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustaff and Florence, brother James, and several aunts and uncles.

His kindhearted goodness, laugh, and humor will be greatly missed by all of us.

Blessed be his memory.
