Arrangements are by the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Osceola. Memorials preferred to your local Breast Cancer Foundation in Memory of Vicki Hunter.

She died peacefully Jan. 9, 2017, after a hard fought battle with pneumonia.  She was surrounded by her family who will miss her dearly.

Vicki Lynn Spielmann was born June 10, 1949, one of two twin daughters born that day to Sylvester and Naomi Spielmann.  She was raised in Marshall with her sisters Vaughn, Jeannie, Patti (Virginia survived only three days) and one brother, Tom.  After graduating from high school, she went to St. Mary’s Junior College where she attained her RN Associates degree. It was during that time she met her future husband, Gary Hunter. They were married July 1, 1972, and started their married life in Worthington. There they welcomed their two daughters, Amy and Amber. Shortly thereafter in 1978, they moved their family to the beautiful shore of Lake Kampeska in Watertown, South Dakota. There were many years spent and memories made on that lake.  In spite of many great friends and a nursing career she cherished, in 1994, she moved to Biloxi, Mississippi, with Gary. They spent 10 years enjoying the warm weather, white beaches and southern hospitality before they moved back to St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, to be closer to their daughters and growing grandchildren.

Vicki was an RN for 46 years and had no plans of retiring because she loved her work. The patients, the providers and the rest of the staff in each of her nursing roles were always life giving to her. Over the years, she worked on a medical floor, in the operating room, in the clinic as a primary nurse. She also worked in an Urgent Care setting, Home Health and finally settled again into the clinic at St. Croix Regional Medical Center as a triage nurse.

Vicki’s family and friends were the most important thing in her world. She would do anything to help others. She was happily married to Gary for 44 years. They enjoyed cooking, gathering with friends but most of all, they loved spending time with their grandchildren: Kyle (16), Tyler (14), Trevor (11), Rylie (10) and Remington (8). In spite of the cold, which she hated, she loved watching all five of them play hockey. She also loved reading and going to the Minnesota State Fair.

Survivors include her loving husband, Gary; daughters Amy (Brent) Haupert and Amber (Matt) Redlin, as well as her five joyous grandchildren: Kyle, Tyler and Trevor Haupert and Rylie and Remington Redlin. She is also survived by her brother Tom Spielmann and her sister Patti Gertner (Brian Nelson). She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and countless other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Naomi Spielmann; and her sisters, Vaughn (Ken) Nelson, Jeannie (Jeff) Eubanks and Virginia Spielmann.
