MARSHALL — Mass of Christian Burial for Phyllis Tanghe, 93, of Marshall, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday with a CCW Rosary at 4 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. at Rehkamp Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will continue from 9-10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Milroy.
Phyllis died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center.
Phyllis (Foley) Tanghe was born Nov. 10, 1923, in Tracy to Daniel and Louella (Ford) Foley. She grew up in Tracy and graduated from Tracy High School. On April 18, 1944, she was united in marriage to Ernest Tanghe. The couple farmed and raised their family in rural Marshall. Phyllis was a very kind, gentle person, and happy homemaker. She enjoyed socializing with her friends and family. She spent her time gardening, canning, crocheting and playing cards. She was a 4-H leader and, in her later years, volunteered as a driver for Lyon County Human Services. She tended to the Holy Redeemer Church garden. She enjoyed the outdoors including camping and fishing. Her Catholic faith was also very important to her. She and Ernest prayed a daily rosary together. Phyllis was an active member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by her children Ronald (and Cherie) Tanghe of Victoria, Roger (and Alice) Tanghe of Owens Cross Roads, Ala., Mark Tanghe of Marshall, Greg (and Darlys) Tanghe of Marshall, Theresa (and Dale) Wold of Cokato, and Karen (and Kenneth) Newman of Renner, S.D.; 22 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, sons Daniel, Richard and Brian, granddaughter Rebecca Wold, daughter-in-law Rebecca Tanghe and six siblings.
