Courts for May 29

MARSHALL — Laura Mae Greve, 45, of Marshall, appeared in Lyon County District Court May 22 on charges of driving while impaired – refusal to take a chemical test and driving while impaired. A complaint alleges Greve refused to take a chemical test in Lyon County on May 21. A hearing was set for June 6. Bail for Greve was set at $4,000 without conditions, or $1,000 bond or $100 cash with conditions including abide by laws and abstain from alcohol and drugs.

MARSHALL — Dylan Lee Reynolds, 19, of Marshall, appeared in Lyon County District Court May 22 on charges of fifth degree controlled substance crime, possession of stolen property, and possession of a small amount of marijuana. A complaint alleges Reynolds possessed drugs and a stolen firearm in Marshall on May 19. A hearing was set for June 6. Bail for Reynolds was set at $25,000 without conditions, or $5,000 bond or $500 cash with conditions including abide by laws, do not leave Minnesota and abstain from alcohol and drugs.

MARSHALL — Selena Lynn Schultz, 47, of Tracy, appeared in Lyon County District Court May 23 on charges of domestic assault by strangulation and two counts of domestic assault. A complaint alleges Schultz assaulted a person in Tracy on April 23. A hearing was set for June 20. The court granted requests for Schultz to leave Minnesota on May 27-31 and June 20-23.

MARSHALL — Rogann Renee Peterson, 45, of Tracy, appeared in Lyon County District Court May 23 on charges of third degree driving while impaired and obstruction of legal process. A complaint alleges Peterson drove while impaired in Marshall on May 8. A hearing was set for July 17.

MARSHALL — Ashton Ann Thompson, 26, of Sioux Falls, pleaded not guilty in Lyon County District Court May 23 to charges of making threats of violence, disorderly conduct and theft, court records said. A complaint alleges Thompson threatened a person after being confronted about shoplifting in Marshall on Oct. 19. A trial date was set for Aug. 10, with a date certain of Sept. 21. A pre-trial hearing was set for Aug. 1.

MARSHALL — Sebastian Arthur Arevalo, 23, of Marshall, was sentenced in Lyon County District Court May 23 for charges of predatory offender – failure to notify of change of address. Arevalo failed to notify law enforcement that he changed addresses in Lyon County on Oct. 15, court records said. Arevalo received a stayed sentence of 19 months in prison, a $500 fine, and five years probation with conditions including serve 210 days in jail with credit for 41 days already served.

MARSHALL — Seth Mathew Livingston, 19, of Tracy, pleaded not guilty in Lyon County District Court May 23 to charges of fifth degree controlled substance crime and possession of drug paraphernalia, court records said. A complaint alleges Livingston possessed methamphetamines in Marshall on April 12. A trial date was set for July 12, with a date certain of Nov. 1. A pre-trial hearing was set for July 7.

MARSHALL — Travis Michael Blick, 26, of Marshall, appeared in Lyon County District Court May 23 on two counts of third degree assault charges. A complaint alleges that on April 12 in Marshall, Blick threw a cell phone at a child under the age of four, injuring the child. The court found probable cause for the charges, and a hearing was set for June 6.

MARSHALL — Sean Eric VanMeveren, 18, of Minneota, appeared in Lyon County District Court May 23 on charges of fifth degree controlled substance crime and possession of drug paraphernalia. A complaint alleges VanMeveren possessed marijuana in Lyon County on April 13. The court found probable cause for the charges, and a hearing was set for June 6.

MARSHALL — Tyler Jordan Meyer, 31, of Marshall, pleaded not guilty in Lyon County District Court May 23 to charges of second degree driving while impaired, court records said. A complaint alleges Meyer drove while impaired in Marshall on April 14. The court found probable cause for the charges. A trial date was set for July 13, with a date certain of Nov. 2. A pre-trial hearing was set for July 7.

MARSHALL — Lester Corey Bates, 39, of Wabasso, was found guilty of domestic assault charges in Lyon County District Court May 24, court records said. A complaint alleged Bates assaulted a person in Marshall on Nov. 13. A jury found Bates guilty of one count of domestic assault and not guilty of a second charge of domestic assault, court records said. A sentencing hearing was set for July 11. The court revoked bail for Bates.

MARSHALL — Jazlyn Kaleen Smith, 20, of Tyler, pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court May 25 to charges of giving a false name and date of birth to a peace officer, failure to provide proof of insurance, and driving after revocation, court records said. Smith drove after her license had been revoked, and gave another person’s I.D. to a peace officer, in Marshall on Aug. 16, court records said. Smith was sentenced to one year in jail with 332 days stayed and two years probation with conditions including serve 33 days in jail with credit for 18 days already served, and do not drive without a valid license and insurance. Additional charges of unlawful display of another person’s driver’s license and display of revoked license plates, were dismissed.

MARSHALL — Erik Bryan Chamberlain, 39, of Marshall, appeared in Lyon County District Court May 16 on two separate sets of criminal charges. In the first case, Chamberlain was sentenced for violation of a domestic abuse no-contact order. Chamberlain violated a no-contact order in Lyon County on Dec. 14, court records said. Chamberlain received a stayed sentence of 21 months in prison, and four years probation with conditions including serve 180 days in jail with credit for 154 days already served, and pay a $400 fine.

In the second case, Chamberlain was sentenced for violation of a domestic abuse no-contact order. Chamberlain violated a no-contact order in Marshall on Dec. 14, court records said. Chamberlain was sentenced to 24 months in prison.

MARSHALL — Ninfa Vallejo, 20, of Willmar, pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court May 16 to charges of aiding an offender to avoid arrest, court records said. Vallejo helped an offender hide from law enforcement in an apartment in Marshall on April 17, court records said. Vallejo received a stay of imposition of sentence and three years probation with conditions including serve 60 days in jail with credit for 31 days already served, and pay a $500 fine.
