False alarm reported at Park Side Elementary

MARSHALL — A fire alarm that led to Park Side Elementary School being evacuated on Tuesday afternoon turned out to have been triggered by a student, local officials said.

Around 2 p.m., the fire alarm at the school went off, and students and staff evacuated the building. The Marshall Fire Department was dispatched to the school, and searched the building for fire or the cause of the alarm.

It was found a student had pulled a fire alarm, Marshall Superintendent Scott Monson said in a Tuesday news release.

By about 2:06 p.m., Marshall Fire Chief Marc Klaith allowed Park Side students to come back into the school gymnasium. Once the building was cleared, students were allowed back to their classrooms. Students were back in class by about 2:10, the news release said.
