RTR one-act play advances

The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton one-act play, “102,” took first place in subsection competition in Pipestone last weekend. RTR and second-place Pipestone advanced to Section 3A finals this weekend at Redwood Valley High School in Redwood Falls. The RTR students will be the second group to perform today, taking the stage around 11:15 a.m.

This year marks the 18th consecutive year that Neil Witte’s RTR program has made it to section competition. A win today would advance the RTR students to state competition next week. The play, “102,” was written by RTR’s assistant director, Erick Harper. It is the story of people trapped on the 102nd floor of the World Trade Center during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. It is the second time one of Harper’s scripts has been taken to sections.
