2 Hanley Falls residents hurt in weekend collision

RUTHTON — Two Hanley Falls residents were injured in a one-vehicle crash on Minnesota Highway 23 on Sunday afternoon, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The crash was reported around 1:28 p.m., the State Patrol said. A 1994 Ford pickup driven by Bernard Heck, 61, of Hanley Falls was southbound on Highway 23 when Heck lost control and went off the road, the State Patrol said. The pickup went into the east ditch, came back up onto the roadway, and rolled. The pickup came to rest in the west ditch, the State Patrol said.

Heck received life-threatening injuries and was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital, the State Patrol said. A passenger in the pickup, Kathleen Heck, 60, of Hanley Falls, was taken to the Tyler hospital with non life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said.

Bernard and Kathleen Heck were both wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not involved in the crash, the State Patrol said.

The Pipestone County Ambulance, Tyler Ambulance, and Ruthton Fire and First Responders all responded at the scene.
