Gunshots damage Hendricks city office over weekend

HENDRICKS — It wasn’t what he expected to see when he went in to the office, David Blees said. But when Blees, city administrator in Hendricks, arrived at the city office and fire hall on Saturday morning, he said he found the building damaged by gunshots.

“The two front doors, the glass was busted,” Blees said. There were other spots on the building that were damaged, too, he said. “There were about seven that we counted.”

While there were no reported injuries, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. The Sheriff’s Office said it received the report of the shooting at 7:36 a.m. Saturday, and the shooting took place sometime during the early morning hours.

Blees said he had been away from the office for a couple of days and returned to the city hall on Saturday to catch up on work.

“I kind of started seeing all the mess at that point,” he said.

On Monday, Blees said business was going on as usual at the city office, although with the front doors boarded up because the glass was gone.

“I don’t know why someone would do that. It’s not funny,” Blees said of the shooting. “Hopefully they can find this person.”

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information on the incident to contact the Sheriff’s Office, or call Crime Stoppers of Minnesota at 800-222-8477.
