Two Marshall teens hurt in crash with semi

BALATON — Two Marshall teenagers were injured in a crash involving a semi on Minnesota Highway 23 on Saturday, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 2:54 p.m., at the intersection of Highway 23 and Lyon County Road 13, the State Patrol said. State Patrol reports said a 2015 Ford Edge driven by Michelle Cunningham, 17, of Marshall, was traveling southbound on Highway 23 and had slowed to make a left turn onto County Road 13. A 2007 Mack semi driven by Larrie Degroot, 65, of Pipestone, was following the Ford, and attempted to pass just as the Ford turned. The two vehicles collided, the State Patrol said.

Cunningham and a passenger in the Ford, Michaela Berre, 16, of Marshall, were both transported to Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center with believed non life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said.

Both girls were wearing seatbelts, State Patrol reports said.
