Hearing set for woman accused of hitting boy with car

PIPESTONE — A Ruthton woman charged with hitting a boy with her car appeared in Pipestone County District Court on Tuesday, court records said.

A hearing for Pauline Christin Jensen, 48, was scheduled in April.

Jensen was charged with criminal vehicular operation, failure to stop for a collision that caused an injury, fourth degree driving while impaired, and driving after revocation, for allegedly hitting a 13-year-old boy with her vehicle on De. 3.

A criminal complaint alleges Jensen pulled into the parking lot of the Buffalo Ridge Express gas station in Ruthton, hitting the boy.

The complaint said the boy was taken to the Tyler hospital to be treated for injuries, and was later airlifted to Sioux Falls. The complaint also alleges that a preliminary breath test found Jensen had an alcohol level of .170.

Tuesday’s court hearing was scheduled as an omnibus hearing, where the court decides whether there is probable cause for criminal charges. However, instead of determining Tuesday whether there was probable cause to pursue charges against Jensen, a contested omnibus hearing was set for April 18, court records said. A contested omnibus hearing includes court testimony on the facts being used to establish probable cause for charges.
