Marshall firefighters responded to a fire at a rural Marshall address on Tuesday evening. The fire started in a garage at a rental property, Marshall Fire Chief Marc Klaith said.

The cause of the fire was unknown as of Tuesday night, Klaith said. However, he said, “It doesn’t look suspicious at this time.”

The fire was reported around 6:30 p.m., at a property on 260th Street, southeast of Marshall. Klaith said the address was a rental property, which was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

“It looks like the fire started in the garage,” he said.

There were tools stored in the garage at the time of the fire, but no vehicles, Klaith said.
