Armed robbery reported in Marshall

MARSHALL — Officers from the Marshall Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery on Peltier Street at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The complainant reported walking from his residence to his parked car when another male stood up from behind one of the parked vehicles, pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded money, according to Director of Public Safety Rob Yant.

Yant added that the suspect then had the victim take off his jacket, took the victim’s wallet and ran across the railroad tracks and vanished. Officers were able to follow the suspect’s tracks for a distance but eventually lost them.

The suspect is described as a caucasian male, wearing an orange cap and tan Carhartt jacket. The victim was not injured and the firearm was not discharged, according to the report.

The Marshall Police Department, in conjunction with the Marshall Crime Fund, is offering a reward of $500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

Anyone with information or who may have seen anything suspicious in the are of Peltier Street around 12:30 a.m. Sunday is asked to call the Marshall Police Department at 507-537-7000. Calls can remain confidential.
