Taunton resident hospitalized in tractor accident

A Taunton woman was critically injured in a tractor accident on Friday, family members and area media reported Monday.

Ann Fier, 81, was airlifted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, according to posts on a CaringBridge website for Fier.

Fier was working at the Rye Nursery Farms, between Taunton and Porter, at the time of the accident, the Minneota Mascot reported Monday. According to family members, not a lot is known about the accident, which left Fier with a punctured lung, broken ribs, a broken pelvis, and other injuries.

The accident may have happened when Fier got off the tractor to attend to dirt on one of the discs, the Mascot reported.

The tractor was found away from Fier, as it ran into something else and stopped, the Mascot reported.

As of Monday, Fier was still hospitalized in Sioux Falls, according to family members’ posts on her CaringBridge site.
