Hendricks, Lincoln County to discuss recycling location

IVANHOE — Hendricks Mayor Julie Hogie and City Administrator David Blees and will be appearing before the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners at today’s meeting to talk about the county’s rural recycling center in Hendricks.

In June, County Environmental Administrator Robert Olsen talked to the commissioners about the possibilities of either moving it to a rural site or building a fence around it and trying to find a way to monitor it better.

The Hendricks officials are planning to attend the meeting to show their concern over the issue and to show their support, Blees said.

He said a fence would be helpful, but it does need to be monitored better.

“The program is fine, but we just have to find a good spot for it,” Blees said. “Lincoln County Board talked about moving it to the county shop in Hendricks, but that is next to King’s Court Subdivision, and we don’t want it there, either.”

Currently, the recycling center is located behind the lumberyard, but residents have been complaining about it.

Other items on the agenda for the Lincoln County Board meeting today include an audit report from Doug Host of Clifton Larson Allen LLP and a maintenance update from county engineer Dave Halbersma, engineer’s assistant Dustin Hauschilde and technician Joe Wilson.

Robert Olsen will be there with his environmental administrator’s report. Dan Kuss, director of the Veterans Services Organization, will also be there.

Emergency Management Director Amber Scholten will be reporting, and Financial Accountant Robin Sterzinger will be there to discuss
