YME jazz team 3rd at state dance; LQPV/D-B takes 5th

The Yellow Medicine East jazz dance team won third place in Class A, and the Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd jazz dance team placed 5th at the Minnesota State High School League Dance Team competition on Friday.

In Class AA, Marshall’s jazz dance team did not move on to finals, taking 10th place. The top six teams move on to finals. But the team was pleased with its effort, head coach Emily Snyder said.

“We were really happy with our performance,” Snyder said. “It was a strong performance.”

The Marshall girls were excited to make a return trip to state, Snyder said.

“They left it all on the floor for this last performance,” Snyder said of the jazz dance team.

YME and LQPV/D-B will perform again today in the high-kick competition.
