Lincoln County Board hears presentation on dispatch service
On Thursday, members of the Lincoln County Board took a step closer to considering a shared dispatch service for county law enforcement.
At their regular meeting, county commissioners heard a presentation from a representative of Zuercher Technologies, about a computer aided dispatch (CAD) system. In November, board members had expressed some hesitation about Lincoln County Sheriff Chad Meester’s 2017 budget request, which included a line item expenditure for a CAD system. Meester said the Zuercher CAD system would help update aging dispatch systems currently being used in Lincoln County, as well as making it possible for the Sheriff’s Office to handle data recorded by body cameras.
Meester had also been looking at the potential cost savings of letting another county host the dispatch service.
At Thursday’s meeting, commissioners approved moving forward with a memorandum of understanding between Lincoln and Nobles counties, as well as the drafting of a contract for county board approval, said Lincoln County Auditor Deb Vierhuf.
