Ameriprise Financial employees volunteer at Marshall Food 4 Kids
Ameriprise Financial advisers and staff recently gathered together to help families and individuals in Marshall. Organized by Van der Hagen, Skogrand & Associates, nine people volunteered at Marshall Food 4 Kids and packaged snack bags for children to take home for over the weekend.
The event is part of the semiannual national days of service arranged by Ameriprise in partnership with Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization. On Nov. 10, 8,000 Ameriprise financial advisers, employees and clients spent the day participating in more than 450 volunteer events across the country.
“Locally, we are a small firm of nine people and it’s great to be able to take time away from our desks to help others in need in our community,” said Corey Skogrand, Ameriprise financial adviser. “In the past we’ve dedicated a Friday afternoon each month to helping our local food shelf. Going forward, we are also helping out at places like the Marshall Adult Community Center, Meals on Wheels, Heart to Heart and our local Hospice House.”
“Community volunteers are critical to fulfill our mission of supplying nutritious snacks to hungry children in our community,” said Lisa Olin, Marshall Food4Kids board chair. “By volunteering, people learn that there is a great need locally — for example, a full 44 percent of Marshall Public School students eligible for Free and Reduced Meals. Parents have told us how grateful they are for this extra boost every week.”
