Avera now among newest members of American Well Exchange
American Well, the leading telehealth company, announced that its award-winning online health care marketplace, the Exchange, has continued to expand with the addition of providers from Avera.
Avera currently offers telehealth video visits 24 hours a day through its application, AveraNow, which is available through smart phone or personal computer.
Through the Exchange, Avera’s providers can help patients living throughout five Midwestern states, including the Dakotas, Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota. Patients now can access telehealth visits on Amwell®, the nation’s most downloaded video telehealth app.
“Expanding the compassionate care our providers offer through the Exchange is a great development for many rural and urban communities across our region,” said Tad Jacobs, DO, Avera Medical Group Chief Medical Officer. “The Exchange allows us to reach patients where they might not otherwise have immediate access to Avera care. We can establish new relationships with patients through telehealth, while providing a high-quality, convenient platform for times when it would be the best fit.”
“We are delighted to welcome Avera providers to the Exchange,” said Roy Schoenberg, CEO of American Well, “Many patients, especially those in underserved rural areas, do not have primary care relationships. By making Avera providers available on Amwell, we can help these patients find their way to an Avera medical provider, no matter where they are located.”
The Exchange began in May 2016, and the Cleveland Clinic, LiveHealth Online from Anthem and Nemours Children’s Health System were among its earliest adopters. You can learn more about it online: https://www.americanwell.com/exchange/
