Ownership change means new menu for Four Seas Asian Restaurant

MARSHALL — A change of ownership resulted in a new menu for Four Seas Asian Restaurant on College Drive.

Two of the three original owners from the July 2015 purchase remain, but a new partner has triggered the menu change.

“We no longer have a hibachi cook,” employee Jacky Cong said. Cong was serving as an interpreter for owner Shufa Li, aka “Sunny,” as Li doesn’t speak much English.

Li is originally from Fujian, China, Cong said, and got his chef’s training at an Asian restaurant in New York. Li’s partner, Xiaping Yu, has experience from an Oriental restaurant in Sauk Centre.

The two owners like sushi very much, Cong said, and one is quite fond of Fly Dragon Roll sushi.

With the departure of the hibachi cook, the current owners reevaluated their menu and customer response. It was noted that the hibachi items were not as popular as the sushi or Chinese food.

“We’re going to add special sushi rolls and keep the Chinese food we’ve had before,” Cong said.

“He learned to roll sushi from Japanese people,” Cong said. They also like to come up with new version of sushi for their customers on a regular basis.

Four Seas Restaurant now focuses on a variety of sushi along with Japanese and Chinese food. They offer a special in each of the two categories which runs one to two weeks at a time, Cong said.

Last week’s specials included: Jazz Roll or Shrimp Tempura Roll. Also Sesame Chicken or General Chicken as a main course, either comes with two of the following: a cup of soup, rice or chicken lo mein.

Four Seas will take reservations for customers, including birthday parties. If a birthday party comes in, they will be treated to free dessert, a choice of ice cream or cheese cake.

The business hours for Four Seas are Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., but closed all day Monday. On Friday and Saturday, it is open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. They are closed from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day for their own lunch break.
