A new vision for Midwest Vision employees
MARSHALL — Midwest Vision employees have a new vista to look at. After 40 years at the Market Street Mall, the vision center has moved to East College Drive across from McDonald’s.
“We have a window,” said Kathy Van Moer, the Midwest Vision manager. “We didn’t have one before. We can now see outside.”
The store also has something else it didn’t have in its old quarters at the mall — its own bathroom. Also, the employees appreciate having a breakroom.
Other than that — besides a remodeling — everything is pretty much the same, said Van Moer.
“We have the same staff, same phone number and offer the same services,” she said.
Midwest Vision opened its doors at the new location next to Papa John’s on Jan. 23.
“We closed for one day, on a Friday,” Van Moer said, “but even then customers found us and came to pick up their glasses.”
Midwest Vision has many locations throughout Minnesota and North Dakota and offers eye examinations, and a choice of eyewear.
Van Moer said the reason for the move was that the company was “looking for more exposure.” The new location is more convenient for customers as well, she said, with parking right in front of the store.
The store has about the same square footage, she said, “but it’s laid out a little differently.”
This is the second Midwest Vision store to be relocated and remodeled.
“The Bismarck, (N.D.,) store was relocated and remodeled first,” Van Moer said.
The Marshall location used to be the Taco Delmar store. The space was gutted and remodeled.
“We put our own stamp on it,” Van Moer said.
