Star Party planned Aug. 1 at SMSU

In August, four of the five brightest naked-eye planets will be visible: Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. On Aug. 1, Southwest Minnesota State University will host a Star Party where people can gather in the gravel parking lot north of the Social Science building to view these planets with a telescope. The event starts at dark and will go until midnight.

Bug spray and a lawn chair are suggested if you plan to stay for any length of time.

If it is too cloudy the night of the event, the Star Party will be moved to the Planetarium to view those planets in the Planetarium sky.

The event is free and open to the public.
