Petraborg, Rieppel recital Nov. 9

Dan Rieppel and Kirsti Petraborg will give a recital in honor the 500th anniversary of the Reformation at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, in the Campus Religious Center at Southwest Minnesota State University.

Rieppel is the director of the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra, and Petraborg is the principal violist and founding member of the Meadowlark Quartet.

The concert will feature music by Lutheran composers.

‘Islam in Post-Trump America’ talk is Nov. 13 at SMSU Fine Arts Theater

“Islam in Post-Trump America: A Muslim Physician’s Experience in Rural America” will be presented at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at the SMSU Fine Arts Theater. The event is free and open to the public. Dr. Ayaz Virji, M.D. is a family physician practicing in Dawson. The evening also will feature the Rev. Mandy France of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bird Island.

Master’s open houses planned for Nov. 13, 16

The SMSU graduate programs will host houses on Monday and Thursday, Nov. 13 and 16, in Student Center 206 starting at 6 p.m.

The open houses will be an opportunity for those interesting in pursuing their master’s degree to talk with faculty and program organizers and get their questions answered. Graduate faculty will be on hand to discuss all aspects of the university’s graduate programs.

SMSU offers four master’s programs:

• Master of Business Administration (MBA)

• Master of Science in Education

• Master of Science in Physical Education — Coaching of Sport

• Master of Science in Special Education

In addition, SMSU offers licensures and endorsements, as well as an Administration & Leadership program.
