Atkins, Stanton to give talk Nov. 1

Southwest Minnesota State alumni Annette Atkins, Class of 1972, and Russ Stanton, Class of 1974, will give a talk, “SMSU and the World in the Last 50 Years” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, in Charter Hall 217.

Atkins is a historian at St. John’s University, and Stanton recently retired as a lobbyist for the Inter Faculty Organization (IFO) union.

Their appearance is part of SMSU’s series of events celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The event is sponsored by the SMSU History Club and is free and open to the public.

Amato presentation is Oct. 30, Nov. 1

Social Science Professor Dr. Anthony Amato will give a presentation, “Russia 1917: War, Revolution, and Modernity,” on Monday and Wednesday, Oct. 30 and Nov. 1.

The Oct. 30 presentation will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Marshall-Lyon County Library. The Nov. 1 presentation will be at noon in the William Whipple Gallery on the SMSU campus.

Both events are free and open to the public and are sponsored by the SMSU History Club and the Marshall-Lyon County Library.
