Irsfeld, Vermaat and Carmany attend conference

The Minnesota Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association had its 50th annual conference March 31 and April 1 at Cragun’s Resort in Brainerd. Pat Irsfeld, Jennifer Vermaat and Leanne Carmany, teachers from the driver education program at Marshall Public Schools, attended.

The theme of the convention was “Celebrating 50 Years.” The program began with a presentation titled “Make Your Mark” by Theresa Turner from LifeSavers. Another topic was “What Can You Do To Drive Toward Zero Deaths?”

The conference ended with a “Stay Alive, Don’t Text and Drive” presentation.

CUF awards scholarships

Catholic United Financial has awarded scholarships to the young scholars listed below who are headed to college or trade school with one of our scholarship awards: Rachel Meyer of Lynd, Matthew Dunn of Marshall, Alexander Vankeulen of Ghent, Shauna Vandendriessche of Marshall, Shania Deutz of Marshall, Bradin Wyffels of Marshall and Kevin Gergen of Marshall.

Since 1955, Catholic United has supported more than 4,000 of our members with scholarships to help defray the costs of tuition and expenses of post-high school education. In 2017, the association awarded more than $200,000, the most scholarship dollars given in a single year. Scholarship recipients range in age from 17 to 44 and will attend college, trade school or a diploma program in the fall of 2017.
