Here’s A Thought for Jan. 20

On Christmas Day of 2016 we read the words, “‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the LORD of hosts.” It’s from Haggai, chapter 2. Derek Prince applies that verse as follows, “When Jesus died and rose from the dead, all the treasures of this entire earth became legitimately His. He is the heir of all things, and we are co-heirs with Him. We share the inheritance. So, in actual fact, we have a legitimate right to the silver and the gold through Jesus Christ.”

There was an old fable told about a pastor in a small town who miraculously dislodged a quarter from a small boy’s throat by whacking him on the back. They had tried everything up to that point. Even the doctors were befuddled as to how to get this pesky coin out of the boy. One of them remarked at last, “Let’s take him over to the Rev. McGillicudy… he can get a quarter out of anybody!”

Living in the truth that everything belongs to God highlights the truth that nothing belongs to me. This is at once ultimate freedom and ultimate responsibility — having nothing is really a matter or stamina, creativity and wits. Living out your life as everything belongs to God is a matter of faith. It flips all of life upside down. Suddenly God is more interested in dwelling with us than we are attempting to reach up to God. It’s remarkable, God’s kingdom just might resemble earth more than it resembles our image of heaven.

Jesus, the carpenter did not float into the clouds to become just another angel retired from his earth mission, he’s finalizing plans for the final invasion followed by a building program. Again, Derek Prince puts it this way, “What is God’s dwelling place at the close of this age? You and me, His people, His completed church, His Body! The Lord promises that for the purpose of building that dwelling, the wealth of the nations will come. Why will we need this wealth? So we can complete the dwelling place of God which is made up of living stones. People. Millions and millions of people, many of whom have not yet been reached even once with the gospel of Jesus Christ. It will cost a lot. It will cost lives. It will cost time. And it will cost money. It will cost everything we have. But God will make all abundance available to us for the work of completing His dwelling place.”

Uh, Can I get my money back? No. It wasn’t yours in the first place.
